Attenuation of the Ganglion Cell Layer in a Premature Infant Revealed with Handheld Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography
Purpose: To report on subclinical retinal abnormalities shown through handheld spectral domain optical coherence tomography on a premature infant.
Methods: Case report.
Results: The initial and follow-up exams on a premature infant revealed severely attenuated ganglion cell and nerve fiber layers. There was cystoid macular edema in both eyes at the initial visits, which resolved by the 1-year follow-up.
Discussion: Optical coherence tomography can reveal significant retinal abnormalities in premature infants which are not detectable through funduscopic exam. Documenting such findings may be useful for the comprehensive management of vision problems in children with a history of premature birth
Phylogeny and taxonomy of the Ophiostoma piceae complex and the Dutch elm disease fungi
The Ophiostoma piceae complex forms a monophyletic group of insect-dispersed pyrenomycetes with synnemata (Pesotum) and micronematous (Sporothrix) synanamorphs. Other species of Ophios-toma outside of the O. piceae complex that form syn-nemata lack the Sporothrix state. The nine recognized species within the 0. piceae complex are delimited by synnema morphology, growth rate at 32 C, mating reactions and sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the rDNA operon. Phyloge-netic analysis of the ITS region suggests two major clades in the complex, one that causes bluestain in primarily coniferous hosts and the other on primarily hardwood hosts. In the coniferous group are O. pi-ceae, O. canum, O. floccosum and the recently de-scribed O. setosum (anamorph Pesotum cupulatum sp. nov.). In the hardwood group are O. querci, O. caton-ianum, and the Dutch elm disease fungi: O. ulmi, O. novo-ulmi and O. himal-ulmi. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms of the ITS region are shown to be a convenient diagnostic tool for delimiting these species
PRESENTEEISM IN WORK PLACES AND ITS IMPLICATIONS ON EMPLOYEESâ HEALTH: EXPERIENCES OF BANKERS IN THE NIGERIAN BANKING SECTOR
Presenteeism occurs when employees in an organization come to work even though they are ill. Usually such illness justifies an absence from work and as such, employees tend to carry out their roles under sub-optimal conditions. Â This study examines the factors blameable for presenteeism among bankers in the Nigerian banking sector. The cross-sectional study was conducted in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State in North central Nigeria. A total of 248 participants selected through multi-stage sampling method from eight commercial banks, was included in the study while primary data was collated through self-administered questionnaire administration. Â Of those that participated in the study, (39.1%) fall within the age category of 18-30 years of age while (44.2%) fall in grade level of associate and support staff. Further result also acknowledged that (43.5%) of the participants were present at work when they were ill out of which, (34.8%) was due to enormous work load (28.0%) was due to participantsâ passion for work (19.6%) was as a result of work pressure while, (17.3%) was due to the mild nature of participantsâ illness. The study strongly recommends that government and other policy makers in Nigeria should legislate laws protecting bankers from coming to work when they are ill having been examined so by qualified physician. Keywords: Presenteeism, Employees, Work Load, Work Pressure, Bankers, Job Demands, Sector, DepositTarge

Could the inclusion of certain Building Information and Modelling aspects into the Leaving Certificate Engineering syllabus, aid the transition of students into third level education, when choosing a course within the construction industry
The paper investigates the effects of implementing several Building Information and Modelling (BIM) aspects into the Leaving Certificate Engineering Syllabus and examines the impact this has on students choosing third level Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry courses with the desire of improving the shortage in the sector. The method and content of the study was based on academic research on second level education in other European countries through the lens of a Literature Review. A sixteen-week pilot program was trialed with over one hundred students at Senior Cycle. The outcomes of the study were critically evaluated through stakeholder interviews and thematic research. The project has raised serious discussion over the Leaving Certificate Engineering syllabus with research suggesting that an update in the curriculum is overdue. Findings suggest; (1) that the pilot BIM module could be adopted into the Engineering Syllabus; (2) students who took part in the course developed a better understanding of jobs available to them in the AEC industry leading to a higher caliber of student adopting DMT subjects and going down the industry career path; (3) the BIM module could be adopted through the vigorous CPD training through the different educational bodies; (4) a continuous classroom-based assessment would be implemented in the Leaving Certificate engineering; A holistic curriculum development at second level education would change the industries attitude on the standard of collaboration and modelling by providing students with 21st century skills which will benefit the AEC sector
Simon Says: A Liddle Night Music With those Depreciation Deductions, Please
This 1995 article, co-authored with Joseph M. Dodge, explores why the decision in Simon v. Commissioner, 103 T.C. 247 (1994), was wrong, effectively allowing premature deduction of a capital expenditure and, thus, consumption taxation (as opposed to income taxation)
